Sabrina Andrews, CPRP – Biography

Sabrina is a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner with over 25 years experience working within community mental health settings. She has provided direct service to youth, adults with persistent psychiatric disabilities and in the last ten years has focused on supporting families. A natural story-teller, Sabrina uses her professional and personal experience to help others understand how to support recovery and motivate change. Certified Master Trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Suicide Alertness for Everyone (SafeTALK).

Services

Coaching

Sabrina will meet with individuals for one-on-one supportive counselling using a psychiatric rehabilitation/recovery focused model of care. Built on a foundation of a strong therapeutic connection, Sabrina helps those struggling with emotional distress uncover and achieve their goals – ultimately improving the overall quality of their lives.

Family Support

Family members of those struggling to maintain mental health often feel their own emotional burden and distress. Sabrina will meet with family members to provide supportive counselling, psycho-education, crisis planning and recovery-oriented strategies to motivate change and promote the recovery of their loved one. Great focus is given to managing crisis behaviours and emotional dysregulation.

Suicide Prevention

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two day workshop that will teach individuals how to perform a first-aid intervention with a person at risk of suicide. Suicide Alertness for Everyone (SafeTALK) is a 4 hour workshop that teaches individuals how to recognize the risk of suicide and connect the person at risk to a suicide interventionist.

Consultation

With over 20 years experience in providing recovery-focused community mental health care, Sabrina provides consultation services to mental health agencies, residential programs and organizations who are invested in adapting a more person-centered, therapeutic approach to mental health care.

Training

A qualified and engaging instructor, Sabrina’s workshop and training sessions are well received – whether in an intimate group setting or large scale forum. Training sessions are tailored to fit the unique needs of your organization or group however some common topics include: Psychosocial Rehabilitation Foundations, Mental Health 101, Supporting Families in the Mental Health System and Managing Borderline Personality Disorder using Select DBT Skills.
